I plan to transit from
Florida to the
Virgin Islands in November of this year. I had been planning to leave from the
East Coast of
Florida and proceed
East North of the Little Bahama Bank until I was far enough East to be able to turn South and proceed directly to the VI's avoiding all
Bahamas shallows. Plans have changed and I now will be leaving from the
West Coast of Florida. Looks like the most direct
route is past
Key West, along the North Coasts of
Cuba and Hispaniola, but the pilot chart shows a .5 knt. contrary
current and lots of relatively strong easterly winds at that time, neither or which is desirable. Have any of your made that
passage and if so, can you tell me about your experience?
Thank you.
