Fort Pierce to Abaco Island

This is a heads up. About the first week of February I will be taking my 51 foot ketch from Fort Pierce, Florida, to Abaco Island in the Bahamas. I have done this trip maybe 30 times in the past. I teach sailing for a living. This trip would be ideal for someone who wants a taste of water sailing">blue water sailing and a look at the islands of the Bahamas.

The trip could be as fast as three days or as long as a week depending on the weather. You do not have to be a sailor for this trip.....just a nice disposition and a cheerful attitude to life. Non smoker preferred and absolutely no drugs.

I will be able to give more exact dates when I know when my first charter of the spring season begins.

PM me if still available. I live in Port St Lucie, (10 minutes form Ft. Pierce). Would love a chance to take a trip. If your interested I could bring some Spade Anchors for testing? If not it would still be a great trip.

Re: Fort Pierce to Abaco Island

I would love to have this opportunity, but obviously behind a few other's that are interested as well.

I am taking my first sailing class in 2 weeks, so I will have the basics by Feb. What I lack in sailing experiences, I can make up for it in other ways. I have been to the Abacos many times by 30' CC with most of my time spent on Green Turtle w/ many contact there. I know the waters from Spanish to Great Guana. Also flown in and out of Marsh Harbor and Treasure many times. Avid diver, spearfishing, fishing, and 23 years of Scuba experience. If your charters wants to fish, scuba dive, spearfish with Hawaiian Sling, etc, I can do it along with cleaning and cooking the fish.

I live in Central Florida and have a very flexible work schedule, so I could accommodate 3-7+ days. PM me if you want to talk on the phone or meet in person if you are in FL.

Thank you!

Re: Fort Pierce to Abaco Island

My name is Rick. I live in Cocoa Beach area and in the middle of a career transition so timing is very good. I have experience sailing and boating in general though I don't profess to know it all by any means. Always looking to learn new techniques from seasoned sailors.

It appears you have several worthy prospects up for the voyage but if none of them work out, I'd love the opportunity! What's the next step? What information can I provide in the meantime?

Re: Fort Pierce to Abaco Island

Hi If you still have room and need crew let me know asap. I have been sailing in San Francisco Bay about once a month of the last 10 years and chartered a few times in various countries, but I have never done blue water sailing or been to the bahamas.

Let me know the dates- I would need to be back to Miami by Feb 6.
