Abaco to Beaufort, NC

My wife and I are planning to passage from the Northern Abacoes to Beaufort, NC before the end of June and invite the possibility of a buddy boat. Looks like the weather window will not open any sooner than June 22 or 23. We expect a 3-4 day passage and have a flexible schedule. Post up here or PM me if your itinerary is similar.

Not to pirate your thread however curious why people want a buddy boat on an ocean passage?
If you have the time please list your reasons why.
If it is just you and your wife you may benefit more from an extra seasoned crew aboard your own boat.
Anyway wishing you a safe passage.

Re: Abaco to Beaufort, NC

I am sure the reasons people want a buddy boat on an ocean passage vary widely; however, as first year liveaboards the reason for us is mostly meeting similar people and sharing the experience. My wife and I are aware that once we depart the chance that the 2 or more boats will be within 25 miles is slim. Most of the people we meet say that time spent with a buddy boat is a little before, even less during, and a lot after. We don't have anything to lose and maybe we will meet people who will be lifelong friends.
That's good enough reason for me to spend a minute tossing out the idea.

I did Puerto Rico to Savannah with 2 novice sailors and a delivery captain. Price for the captain was well worth it in safety of the boat and crew and the knowledge I attained having him aboard. He lives in Puerto Rico and his rates are reasonable. His goal is to teach you as much as possible. PM message me and I will forward his info to you.
