Survey in Croatia

Surveyor in Croatia needed. Anyone know of a good surveyor in the Split area of Croatia? This is for a pre purchase survey of a 42ft boat. Anyone with experiences with surveyors in Croatia? Thanks GD

Hi, I just had a boat surveyed in Biograd here are 2 surveyors that I dealt with.
Tho Ivica did the actual survey cot me around 650 Euro with an additional compression test on the engine. Nicely written up blah blah.

Re: Survey in Croatia

Thanks John
Yes we are Aussies and will email the surveyor you used. We would be grateful for anything else associated with boat buying in Croatia, eg. Solicitors who are familiar with boat transactions and speak fluent english, did you use a solicitor? The boat we are interested in is not Croatian flag, but another Euro country, and we want to be sure that no liens come back to haunt us. Our email is g_folkard (at) yahoo (dot) com (dot) au
Our names are Graeme & Denise

Re: Survey in Croatia

Hi Rumba
My first post on this site and I was wondering if you could do me favour and supply any information regarding buying a Croatian/European Yacht. I have dual Australian /British Passports and am thinking of using a broker to buy with a separate surveyor. Would really love to hear from anyone who has bought a boat from afar. (also thinking about British Virgin Isles).
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Sean

Re: Survey in Croatia

Hi we are moored at MILNA about 20 miles from SPLIT we bought our boat at KREMICK Marina not far away and have been cruising Croatia ever since, i'm a retired boatbuilder enjoying this country big time.
Forget using Croatian lawyers thats very painful.
Anything i can help you with let me know. Cheers Frank

Re: Survey in Croatia

Thanks Frank.
I will be in Marina, just north of Split on Saturday. It would be great to catch up. I am not sure how long I will be hanging around at the moment. My email is sbrackenau@yahoo.com.au if you want to drop me a line we can arrange to meet if you like.

Cheers
Steve

G'day John (and everyone else),

We saw a post of yours on the cruisers forum about surveyors in
Croatia and thought we might flick you a quick message, just wondering if we
could ask some general advice.

We're a Kiwi couple thinking about buying a Oceanis 40 (in Excellent
condition) in Sukosan and will have it surveyed prior to purchasing..

Also wondering if you found any private sale boats and if you know how that
works here? We have been around all the big marinas and didn't find any
"For Sale" signs.

Also any advice on how trustworthy the dealers are? we have been told to be
very careful..but nothing specific.

Another concern is using a Dealer "Trust account" to pay for the boat. Can
I ask how did you do the final money thing? and did you make a deposit
prior to a Survey? into the owners account? or into the brokers "Client"
account?

I've gone through a list of things to check from a Yacht surveyor and found
a couple of things that need attention - Any advice or information on the
quality of the Surveyor? was he experienced - (I think you used Ivica Soso)
- and found things you didn't or was it just a tick list?

Sorry for the list of questions - just we're feeling that it's not as easy
or as honest here as it is in NZ..

Thanks for any info.
