Catalina 22, Swing keel, 1985, excellent condition, $8,500 Maine

Catalina 22 swing keel version. Boat, motor and trailer in excellent cond. Sails in very good cond. The boat is a great performer and is easy to launch and retrieve with my 2WD 6 cyl. pick up. It draws only 2' with the keel up (5' down) so you can go into shallow well protected areas where other cruisers can't. This is one of the most popular boats in its class ever built with over 18,000 sold. It is still being made and parts are still available. With the included mast raising equipment and reusable winter cover you can avoid virtually all the typical boat yard costs and store it in your yard or driveway for free. I am a furniture maker and have added a lot of improvements to this boat to make it safer, easier to sail, and much more comfortable for cruising and living. My wife and I have cruised down east Maine on 4 week trips for each of the last four seasons. The boat has always been dry-sailed in fresh water except the four months total of all our cruises so it has never needed and does not have any bottom paint. The excellent cond. and the extensive custom work specifically for cruising makes this Catalina 22 much better suited than most others for someone who wants to cruise overnights or longer in safety and comfort. Includes everything needed for cruising except PFD's and a dinghy. (I have a very nice 8' Puffin dinghy for sale if needed)

Powered by a 2013 Yamaha 6HP 4 stroke long shaft with internal alternator to charge the battery. It is mounted on a spring assisted stainless steel motor mount. Sails include a Main with one set of reef points and low friction single line reefing from the cockpit, a 150% Genny on a roller furler, and a working jib (which is not used). Electronics include a new Garmin 547 Chartplotter on a swing-out mount, Raymarine depth sounder, compass, knotmeter, and an older (but working well) VHF radio with mast head antenna. The Load Rite galvanized trailer is equipped with recent surge brakes, and newer galvanized wheels and tires and many other improvements which are detailed on a list of improvements and upgrades which I can email to you. Anchors include a 13 Lb. Mantis, a Guardian G11, and a Danforth knock off as a backup. Any anchor can be used and stored in the bow roller as well as in dedicated chocks on the bow. A mahogany deck box stores 250’ nylon braided rode and 20’ of chain making for quick anchor deployment and retrieval. A 30 Watt solar panel and PWM charge controller can easily provide the power needed for cruising without the need to run the engine. The keel has been recently refinished and all related hardware replaced and is in pristine condition. Comes with a composting toilet and a porta-potty.

Everything needed for safe and comfortable cruising is included such as fenders, dock lines, radar reflector, portable automatic anchor light, Windex wind indicator, C.G. required equipment, built-in manual and electric bilge pumps, pop-top cover (excellent cond. But fits tight), two boat hooks, insect screens for both hatches and a boom tent (sun/rain shelter). I can also email more photos and a complete list of all the other improvements and upgrades completed in the last four years.
