Crew exchange location advice in St Vincent and the Grenadines

We have booked a 2-week charter next spring. Going 1-way: starting in St Vincent and ending in Grenada. We have two groups of friends joining us and would like to disembark the first crew at the same location we pick up the second. Does anyone have advice for where this might best happen? We don't necessarily want to have to loop back up to St Vincent after several days voyaging south through Grenadines. Ideally, it would have ferry and/or airport service and reprovisioning opportunity. Thanks!

There are two spots I would choose: Bequia or Union Island. Bequia is serviced by air by SVG (flysvgair.com) and Union by Liat Air (Liat.com). Both will take your guests to and from Barbados which has the best selection of flights to the various mainland cities.

Bequia is great and provisioning is available. Salt Whistle Bay on Mayreau is a must stay!

Thank you piccoq! We are thinking Bequia and Carriacou are the places where we'll make exchanges. Bequia because air service as you mention and Carriacou for ferry service. It seems that the ferry service is pretty reliable – is that your experience?

Cariacou is in a different country (Grenada ) so you. Need to think about that . It does however have a ver reliable ferry service as you state in the Osprey. It is a nice island and worth visiting ,but you will have to deal with customs in and out and also changing crew on the forms can be annoying at times . It is a one day sail to either island . I would use Bequia for your needs that way your guest get the most time on the water as they will lose a day with the ferry . The log jam for bequia is mustiness airways for Barbados. Book now and have fun

Thanks admiralslater. We're new to the Windwards so appreciate the advice! We hadn't figured time for customs check in/out, so may arrive Carriacou a day early to clear through and then explore around the island till 2nd batch of crew arrive. Make it easier for 1st batch who are planning to explore Grenada after their sail w us.

That makes sense . Look out for a dingy concert and ,or full moon party both very unique events , and Hogg island Sunday afternoon . This is all on Grenada proper

Make sure that the crew clearing off have paper copies of their flight tickets as you will have to clear them off the boat manifest at immigration and they will need proof that they are leaving the island. When you leave the island with the new crew just make sure they are listed on the crew manifest when you clear out. The choice of where to do it is Maori a matter of your flight or ferry connections, the boat crew change should be fairly straight forward, but time consuming as you are in British islands not french

That is really helpful advice! Hadn't thought about needing papers to prove off-island transport. And of course no printer on board
