US parts for Yamaha outboard purchased in Asia

I have a Yamaha F15BMH (prefix 6D4K) that was purchased in Malaysia. The outboard is now in the US and I'm trying to find parts. The foreign serial number doesn't show up in the local dealer's US database.

Is there any way to identify the correct parts for this engine?

Robertkwfl,
I have a similar issue trying to locate a water pump rebuild kit for a Yamaha E8D 8HP Enduro outboard. (FYI - I found the manual for my E8D on the web and was able to dload the .pdf).

The PO informs: "The motor was bought used in Venezuela around 2006. Enduro is not sold in Canada either. They don't even sell 2 cycles anymore. The only place you can get parts is in the Caribbean, Central and South America or Europe and Africa.

Do not despair! A reasonably good supplier can be found in St. Maarten or Granada. They're called "Island Water World". I believe they also have branches in the Virgin Islands; American and British. You can find them on the Internet. St Maarten would be my choice. They are easy to find on the Internet and have a fairly detailed Web site. You may be able to find other suppliers in Central America ( Costa Rica or Panama). At this time, Venezuela is probably out of the question.

I contacted: Island Water World, Vernie Richardson <vernie@islandwaterworld.com> , (isn't that a bad Kevin Costner movie?), and got back a negative response.

I'm just about to make an inquiry to Yamaha Marine Service Maputo Mozambique and Boat Builder which is in Mozambique. I'll let you know how that goes.

If anyone can help, in my case, the Serial # for my Yamaha 8 HP Enduro 2-stroke is: E8D 677 S 067160.

Thanks!

I found the carb kit for our 8hp Enduro is the same as the regular USA 8hp 2 stroke carb kit.

Re: US parts for Yamaha outboard purchased in Asia

I've learned some things since my original post. Model numbers vary by region, but part numbers are global. If you can find a parts catalog for your model, you should be able to order parts from any dealer or online vendor. I have three Yamahas that originated overseas. I found the parts catalogs online (after fairly extensive digging). So far every part I have needed has been available in the US. This is even true for a 2009 Yamaha 2 cycle model that was never sold in the US.

Re: US parts for Yamaha outboard purchased in Asia

There should be a year code, a single letter in the bottom right under the serial number.

Purchased used in Venezuela, December 2006, so you are close if not right on. It's sitting in the mechanics shop, so unable to check the code at the moment.

Any chance you can provide links? Much appreciated.

Intl water pump base uses 3 mounting screws while US version uses 4, according to one who knows. Curses!

Well if it is 2005 i would get in touch with these guys...

Yamaha Outboard Parts

Then....

2005 Yamaha Outboard Parts

The 2005 8MSHD Yamaha Outboard is the only 8hp 2 Stroke in the list and i would say this could be what your looking for, the rest appear to be 4 Strokes....

Try clicking>>>>>>> 2005 8MSHD Yamaha Outboard Parts then click "Repair Kit" and the kit for the water pump is number 36, click on it and see if the parts look like yours, still ask though..

As Robertkwfl says model numbers/names change from region to region but most parts are usually the same, I've had a few Yamaha Outboards over the years from 15 to 225hp (225 was a 1998 model) down here in Aus and have got most of my parts from these guys, way cheaper than here and way easier to find on there data base...

Good Luck

Curses, a truly great site but no support for Intl parts. I ordered the US kit anyway, it may just have the few parts we need, we will see.

Re: US parts for Yamaha outboard purchased in Asia

Woops, I was looking at general outboards, not Enduro. This is what I have, or as close as I can find: E8DMHL 2-stroke, enduro, 8hp, long shaft, pre-mix. Yamaha Outboard Engine 2stroke Enduro E8DMHL

Talking Re: US parts for Yamaha outboard purchased in Asia

Thanks to my exceptional diesel mechanic sending me the Yamaha Global Overseas Sales Network link > https://global.yamaha-motor.com/busi...ors/index.html

Using that, I was able to find and purchase the Enduro 8HP water pump kit from Harbourside Marine in the Bahamas, > https://www.hbsmarine.com/

Shipping was expedited ($$$), so if you aren't in a hurry be sure to ask what your shipping options are. Very friendly and super customer service, I bought the two kits they had in stock and they arrived today.
