Satellite TV Antenna Receiver Wont Lock satelites.

Greetings. I purchased my yacht with a marine satellite TV antenna receiver which is a flat dome mounted on a stainless support. See pic 1. See pic 2 barcode with the white backround which is the only ID on the receiver unit. Pic 3 shows the barcode on the black backround of the controller. Pic 4 shows the top of the controller unit. When we connect the unit, the receiver appears to hunt for satellite reception. It intermittently locks and then resumes rotating and moving as if it cannot receive a satellite fix. Likewise, the "on light" displys on the controller but the "lock light" in the pic does not iluminate. Weve searched the web looking for the make, manufacturer, programming info, software or a user manual. Can anyone please help as follows:
1. What make is it?
2. What is the likely fault? Is it not able to lock onto a sateline?
3. Is there any info available regarding the unit, software available and a user manual?
4. Any anformation will be appreciated.

I have never seen a flat sat tv antenna. are you sure it's not a regular TV antenna?... they are often flat and round.

yes, its most definately a sat tv receiver unit. Its been opened up by a knowledgable friend. He ran the unit on a desk top with the cover off. It was hunting for satellites but couldnt get a fix. We just cant get any info on it or advice on software etc . Thank you
