Wharram Design

I've been looking at small cats for quite some time now, I love wharrams philosophy on simple.
I went to look at a tiki 21 a few months back, found out I'm not too fond of the wingsail that was used, and the boat needed to be a little bit bigger.

Which brings me to the amatasi,. I have purchased the study plans for this boat. I love almost everything about this little boat, however, I do not want an open boat. which is why I have this question.

If I were to buy the building plans, I would enclose the hulls. The beam lashings go through the hull, not like the tiki 21, which could be a problem, or just do it like the tiki.

I don't want to buy the plans and then change the design of the boat, if it would be a problem,. I don't know that I would want people changing what I have designed...

So..... do it and change it , or just start from scratch with my own , this will be my first time building a boat.??

[SIZE="3"]If the Tiki 21 is to small look at the Tiki 26.. rather than fit a hard top on her maybe a set-up like this that I made for my 21 would be a better option.. aerodynamic soft top and can be easily dropped when windage is a problem.. get caught out and need to beat to windward.
Slept under it.. cooked under it.. and on a 26 it'd be roomier.
As for the rig.. you can make it whatever you want.. Sprit, trad Bermudan, gaff or wing.. that's the beauty of Wharram.. they're adaptable.

Re: wharram design

thanks, I took a good look at the tiki 26, . what I like about the amatasi, is the rig, which you say, just change the rig, ok., ill think on that, the other big thing I liked on the amatasi , is the rudder system. I think that is brilliant, so easy, so simple,..

so a tiki 26 with the rig and rudders of an amatasi??!!

Don't see why it would not work.. another plus looking at the Amitasi hull is the Tiki should be a tad roomier with the V-hull.. the build is easy stitch and glue.
If your going to be beaching her I'd suggest an alloy strip 1"x1/4" from 6" up the bow running to about 6ft short of the stern..
