Georgia or Florida?

At some point in the next few years we will buy a live aboard and do a few short trips, extending them as our skills and comfort improve, and eventually take off to sail the Caribbean.

We have the option of basing out of Georgia or Florida Gulf side, and would like input on which option affords the better 2-3 day "shake down" excursions?

Tampa Bay would be a good and forgiving place to learn. Alot of anchorage destinations within two or three days.

I’m a Ga boy, etc.
Having said that, Fl without a doubt, there just isn’t much to Ga., where on the Gulf Coast, there are hundreds of destinations.
Our home port is Panama City Fl.
