Suggestions for jib furlers

Hey guys. new here...

Looks like my Profurler (likely original from 1992) has seized up. I will attempt to rebuild it. But also considering a new one.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a reefable jib furler?

I've looked at Harken, Profurl, Hood H325, Selden 304s... I'd like to see what else is out there I'm not aware of.

Thanks all!

Re: Suggestions for jib furlers

Don't have a recommendation on an alternate, but we just re-built our 1999 ProFurl. The bearings are/were a standard industrial product/size, I pulled the old ones, took them to a local bearing shop and they were able to get me all the bearings and seals (drum and swivel) for under $100. Furler spins like a dream now.

On the other hand, if you need new plastic bearing sleaves (for inside the section joiners on the wire) or new section joiners for an old ProFurl - well, good luck.

I loved my Schaffer on my last boat. Boat a 2100 for my 36 foot boat. Built solid and good looking too. It is what I will buy when the time comes unless something new proves better.

Good luck

Look at single line curlers. Coliglio or something like that.

I also have a Schaefer 2100 model for 36 foot boat. Installed myself with mast up 15 years ago and have had zero issues

Re: Suggestions for jib furlers

I recently bought a 49' cruising boat that had a Furlex 304S installed for a staysail. I don't think it was ever used because the staysail on board is a hank-on sail. I prefer a lever release for my staysail and will be removing the Furlex 304S this week. I'll give you a very good deal on this "like new" furler.

Re: Suggestions for jib furlers

n = number of different furlers made

Answers to the "which furler" question is n + at least one.
