Re: Gemini now a Catalina

I saw something that said they were changing the head layout to have a separate shower. Don't know where the space would come from, as there weren't pictures.

Doing that may not be a Catalina thing. I would expect they would bring a few tweaks to the table, like the gelcoat thickness or line routings, etc., but nothing major?

Re: Gemini now a Catalina

I like them.

All boats have things we would like to change.

I believe they are addressing the deck crazing issue by stiffening the braces so the flex is less.

Changing the layout for separate heads and shower.

Engine access is......... accessible I guess.

As for low clearance........ Ive been on worse.

I would like to see a good evaluation of the vessel by someone who used it for a few days.

Supposedly no hull flex, spider cracks in the Legacy due to a more rigid deck design.

I am pretty sure see a winch in that picture on the port side, I think the bdc is fine, the hulls seem buoyant enough to lift as waves pass etcc. I agree with you on the engine access

Re: Gemini now a Catalina

I am with the others who hate the Gemini. I was hired as a captain on one and it is the worst designed boat I have been on to date. If you look at the photo someone posted and don't see at least 4 design flaws you're not looking hard enough. One question I have if anyone can tell me the answer. The steering on the one I took out felt like someone had a friction lock on it. i never could figure out what was happening. I'd love to hear an explanation for that. The boat was a 2013 I believe.
