catamaran experience Australia

hi. Im planning on buying a catamaran and Sailing the oceans.
problem is that I have never sailed so Im hoping to get some experience as a very keen learner sailor on a liveaboard cat over winter north Australia .
I m very flexible with schedules. very practical guy and easy going.
anything considered.

thanks for the reply.
I've done all the theory and just waiting to sell my house so any sailing time would be great.

Re: catamaran experience Australia

thanks cameron. hopefully I should be up in qld in a couple of months looking at catamarans and trying to get some experience and information on what best suits my needs for Cruising.
I was thinking 36 to 38' probably best but things keep changing, so watch this space. I give you a call when I have firm plans.
cheers dean

Re: catamaran experience Australia

Cool mate don't rush it and if its round Brisbane be glad to check it out with you .I know a bit about electrics and what not .The Lagoon 380 I was on was a very practical boat it had 4 cabins and a really well planned out saloon.Plus was very easy to sail .I went on a mono hull the other day and I will tell you now I would be on a catamaran any day .Just the way they surf the water and the space you have i would compare a 40 ft cat to having the room of a 60ft mono . Plus if you get a nice set of twin diesels they make for great cheap motoring and you have the added safety of a extra engine if one was to fail . Do you get into diving as I have the equipment for 2 people .I was at lady Elliot last month and WOW manta rays .Heaps of fish .I even saw a cool looking mantis shrimp .any way mate hope that you find the boat of your dreams .just be patient King Neptune will lead you to a beauty
