440: Lagoon 440 anchor size

Hello all,
just a quick question to find out what type and size of anchor people are using on their Lagoon 440's.

Lewmar delta 25kg, no problem in two years. Chain is 12mm. With a 10mm chain I guess I would use a 30kg anchor. Mine is getting rusty, I'll change it for a spade 25kg when the time comes.

Hello all,
I should have indicated that I had checked the Manson, Rocna and Anchor Right (Sarca excel) sites and found that either if 36 KG Manson or 33KG Rocna would be ample for our needs. I was just wondering what others were using and how they found them.

Hi greg you should be using a rocna 40kg as you only have 10mm chain

33kg Rocna, 7:1 scope as often as I can...last 5 months spent anchoring in sandy Bahamas with zero drag in up to 40 Kts, so far...we are also very diligent with our “set” process.

LOA for a 440 is 13.6m - round up to 14m
Weight - say 16 T+ fully loaded ?
Rocna size chart says 33 kg Rocna (for a mono hull) pick next size up for a cat = 40kg
Rocna says they are conservative - to handle 50 knots and surge

We use a 40 Kg Rocna - great anchor, friends have similar sized mantus and manson - just as good.

I have a Lagoon 440 - I have 12mm chain & I use a 90 lb MANTUS SS anchor, awesome: It is my good night sleep anchor “Drop it and forget it”

I also use the MANTUS anchor bridle, which has both the chain clamp & mooring clip - so easy. #thankyoumantus

If you wanted to go for an excellent certified SHH Aussie anchor, my pick would be a 36 or 40kg Sarca Excel. We have been using a 30kg Excel on our L380 for the past 5 years with great confidence.

On our L450F We are using a 45kg Ultra.

Love it so far after one season. Once set, its effectively in concrete.. (or so it seems). Setting is easy as long as not lots of grass (which it likes to pickup !)
