Spade Anchor Assembly

I just received my shiny new S-120 spade anchor. I'm not sure I put everything together A-OK and would love a second opinion!

I only used little 8" long wrenches, but was surprised to see that everything had deformed a bit when I was done cinching it up. Looks like the bolt bent a skootch to match the non-parallel faces of the mortise. I also note that there is still a little bit of fore+aft motion possible between the shank and the fluke, if I set the anchor upright and wrestle it a bit. Normal?

(Note, I "upgraded" the fastening. Rather than just use the one nylock nut, I first installed a regular nut, then followed up with the nylock. I used seizing wire rather than the hitch pin. I also used locktite-blue, both where the stainless washers contact the galvanized anchor, and for the nuts.)

Re: Spade Anchor Assembly

I'm very far from my Spade S80 anchor at the moment but I don't remember noticing any possible movement between the shank and the fluke.

Re: Spade Anchor Assembly

I was a bit surprised with how sloppy the fit was. Once tightened it seems to only allow a very slight motion, and maybe thats expected with this sort of assembly, but I'd definitely like to know that for certain...

Re: Spade Anchor Assembly

Chris,
Your set up looks great. The 2 locking nuts and safety pin look well done.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
