Looking for fishing boat

Hello everyone I'm a new member and I'm looking for a fishing boat. I desire a used fishing boat with good condition and affordable. I prefer diesel engine with fish well capacity of 2-4 tons. And has 30'-32' in length.

Thanks,
Serek

It may help if you give some details as to what you want. Perhaps what country you are in, and what your budget is.

I'm in Texas, and looking for a fishing boat ranging from $30000-$40000. The boat will be used for bottom fishing. Catching groupers red snappers etc

If you are looking for that type of commercial vessel, I would advise a trip to Monterey, CA or next door to Moss Landing, CA where you will find a number of older wooden Monterey Trollers for sale. The other area to explore would be in small coastal towns on the British Columbia inner coast or the Fraser River. You will find quite a few older wooden fishing vessels for sale since the Government bought back fishing licenses to reduce the number of commercial fishermen on the coast.
I commercial fished for many years and was surprised at how cheap these old boats were going for... Phil

Also former fisherman, best to buy a boat that is successfully fishing in the industry you want into. Lots of people (most people) come in for one year or two and then leave, broke. Their advise and gear is usually useless.
Fuel was about 35¢ a gallon when I fished. Now you need to be careful about your trips and burning up fuel for no gain. You may need to buy a limited entry permit. I never fished there. Do Texas fishermen wear rubber boots or cowboy boots at sea?

Re: Looking for fishing boat

Good advise from Lepke... if you can find someone who has given commercial fishing a shot and found it isn't for them, they may have put a few $ into their boat but are prepared to deal. I got the impression you were looking for a smaller commercial type vessel but weren't interested in following that line of work. Fiberglass wasn't invented when I fished... steel or wood was the choice!
If you have never fished commercially before, I would suggest you ship out of Seattle or Dutch Harbor for a couple of trips to see if you can cut it. It is a hard, lonely and not too lucrative life anymore. Work is hard and dangerous. I'm surprised that after 20 years out there I still have all my fingers! All my fishing was in Alaska, West Coast and BC.
Good Luck! Phil

Re: Looking for fishing boat

Looks as is you are is a bandit boat with electric or hydraulic reels. I would check very closely on the laws. Snapper and Grouper are being highly regulated.
