Monohull sailor wanting to move to multihull

So, I am in the processes of selling my current monohull (Catalina 42), and purchase another boat in four to five years. I do plan on sailing boats (less frequently) from now till then, but I do plan on getting a boat again. (Big reason is that my family is growing to a total of six, so Catalina 42 won't fit us comfortably as much as I want in the future).

I have been looking at the Lagoon lineup, but from what I've been hearing was that the electrical and some of the systems was poorly organized. My Catalina, which was built in 1991, was very disorganized and it was very annoying to deal with especially in an older boat.

I have also heard that the Lagoon doesn't sail as well as other catamarans, but I don't know if that will make a difference for the type of sailing that I plan on doing.

I do plan on mainly coastal cruising with the possibility of going bluewater sailing (most likely not, but its nice to think that I can).

So my ultimate question other than Lagoon catamarans what kind of catamarans out there that can give me good storage, fit my future family of six, and have a really organized system underneath it all?

Re: Monohull sailor wanting to move to multihull

It sounds like you have a reasonable plan. You will probably get some questions about your budget. Here are a few manufacturers that compete with Lagoon:

FP
Leopard
Robertson Caine
Others

This isn't a segment of the market to which I've paid much attention, but some forum members have a lot of experience with these boats. Hopefully some of them will chime in.

Cheers,
