Cat Anchorages Florida East Coast

Currently anchored in Lake Sylvia in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Seeking recommendations for other scenic anchorages along the Florida east coast that are accessible for 50' Cat - mast 73 feet, draw 4.5 feet.

Re: Cat Anchorages Florida East Coast

Lake worth inlet just to the south of Peanut Island in the ICW is a good stoping point for overnight or a day or 2. Further north past the Jupiter island 707 bridge you will find a long stretch of ICW that is undeveloped along the western shore. The next bridge up is Hobe Sound. Past that and a little before you get to the Port St. Lucie inlet is Peck Lake Park. The eastern shore here is a popular overnight with beach access via a walking path to several miles of undeveloped beach. All bridges except 1 the fixed Blue Heron Bridge @ 65 feet "BARELY" just north of Lake worth inlet are draw bridges so no problem. With your mast height you will need to go outside from Lake Worth inlet to Jupiter inlet. Jupiter inlet can be a bit tricky but the last get time I've been through we never saw less than 6 feet even at low tide. Line up on the inlet well off shore and it's pretty good right down the middle. You could come in at Jupiter inlet and cruise down the ICW south to North Lake worth where there is an anchorage with access to Publix and West Marine within walking distance. Be advised there are some overhead power lines about half way down from Jupiter that if memory serves are at 87 feet but I'm not really sure. Also the draw bridges south of Jupiter inlet are on a schedule except the 1st one Federal Highway it is on demand. For the others be prepared to wait.
