Hello from California

Hello!

After reading a few threads in the seamanship forums I figured I should set up an account, just in case I had a dumb question or comment to add in (two in the queue so far, actually).

Background: started learning to sail a bit over a decade ago on SF Bay, got distracted by other things in the meantime, and am getting back into it. (It will likely be some time before I have a boat of my own.) For now, I'm spending my sailing time on boats in the 10 to 12 meter range.

Welcome to the forum. We keep the boat (Kelly-Peterson 44) on SF Bay at the Pt San Pablo Yacht Club in Richmond.

Re: Hello from California

Thanks Dan, Gord!

That's a corner of the bay I still need to explore. Mostly I go out of Alameda or South Beach, but I've picked up a copy of the Mehaffy's Cruising Guide to help inspire a little more exploring.

Re: Hello from California

We had boats in Alameda since 1983 and moved north two years ago. Alameda is delightful, great place to sail from.

Welcome aboard.

Re: Hello from California

Requiem, welcome aboard CF.

I'm an escapee SF sailor, and still remember the glory days of racing on the bay, and the joys of going out the Gate and turning left.

Enjoy the ride on OPBs, and know that you are helping them while they help you. Crewing is a great way to expand your horizons and skills.

Jim
