using vhf

I'm looking for recommendations for online vhf courses and/or examples of how to use them.

I'm an english speaker living in denmark,there are courses offered locally but in danish only and my danish isn't good enough at the moment.

There have been a few recent threads discussing the proximity of other ships and hailing them to discuss crossing intentions-i assume there are protocols for this to keep the discussion brief and to the point? I'd like to find examples of ship to ship and ship to shore communication

I've read through the new zealand coastguards publications on vhf usage which was very helpful ,it had several examples of mayday/pn pan/securite but it didn't cover ship to ship or ship to shore.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some useful material?

The basic protocol is no different for ship to ship or ship to shore. More details here:

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Hail the ship on 16. "Ocean Pride (3x), this is Own Vessel (3x), over."
Ask the one who answers to pick a working channel. ["Hello, 'Ocean Pride', please pick a working channel, over".
Go to that channel and have your conversation. Tell the answerer thank you. ["Thank you, 'Ocean Pride', this is Own Vessel, returning to channel one six, out."
Return to 16 and maintain listening watch.
