Music on board

Hello all,
I was wondering what people do if they want to hear their favorite music on long passages in regard to technology. Do some of you carry 12 v iPOD speakers? Other 12 V systems. On my own boat I have a 6 CD CD-player/radio, but if I downloaded music on iPAD or iPhone for instance, what's the best way of listening to it?

Thanks.]

We have a few options, including a built-in entertainment system with speakers inside and in the cockpit. We can plug our ipod or phone into that to play music from these devices (where we keep a lot of our favorites), but our go-to way to listen to music most often is actually hooking up these devices to little portable jambox speakers. Both plug into 12v outlets for charging.

I keep my ipad on a bracket at the wheel and use it as a second GPS. It also has all my music on it. I run a cable down into the cabin to the built in stereo. I can select, adjust volume, and play tunes while at the helm. If I am down below I can plug the iphone or ipad directly into the stereo.

Re: Music on board

We use a Sony hi-res Walkman that holds about 250gb.
We connect this to our Alpine stereo via Bluetooth. We have speakers in the salon and cockpit via a switch. We can control the stereo via a wireless remote from anywhere on the boat.

Marine AM/FM/CD/MP3 Player Suggestions | SailboatOwners.com Forums

^^^^is good advice for those into newer technology.

We have CDs, a cassette car stereo and tons of mix tapes, for those who remember those days! I admit it: I don't have an iPod.

Re: Music on board

Guitar, mandolin & fiddle always more fun to make the music!
Really fun to bring along the laptop and a couple of mics to record spontanious jam sessions, couple times got some neat natural sound effects in the background.
Strange that a "live" performance always draws a small crowd, music from the stereo and some people complain. Many a fun dock party has started with a bit o' guitar picking after dinner.

my harmonicas always come with me when I go cruising. I have a set of the bose mini soundlink 2 speakers which I love. 10 hour battery life and can be charged via a 12v outlet.

I have a Bose as well. Awsome sound. I also use an Ion Busking amp purchased from Sams Club. It has the bluetooth input but also an AM/FM radio and a 1/4" plug which I use for practicing my uBass, playing along to MP3s. All my music is on my Cell phone, then Bluetoothed to a speaker.

I don't (yet) have music in the cockpit.
