Re Rigging my 36footer

Hi all hope to get some help here I'm looking at replacing all the wire rigging and having a little trouble deciding and getting the right advice.
I have a 36ft Roberts cutter rigged sloop with 8mm wire on all but the bow stay, I'm looking for a supplier of Stay-Lok fittings and wire in Queensland.
Also what wire it's a given 316 but 7x7, 1x19, 7x19 ? I need about 96meters and 16 fittings I see Stay-Lok fittings are easy to use and reusable.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello! I can't help you out with Sta-Lok source in Australia, but have you heard of Hi-Mods? I have not used them, but have heard good things about them. They might be a good option. Maybe this link will help:

I've used the Hayn fittings as well as the Sta-Loc, and had good experience with both. The Hayn were a fair bit cheaper, and were easier to work with.

As far as the wire goes, you will want 1x19 for standing rigging. The others are more flexible, but more susceptible to corrosion. Dyform is a bit stronger for a given diameter, but also more expensive.

Start with the rigging only website Rigging Only

It has a lot of useful information which you will need. In addition to matching wire size, you will need to deal with terminal types, threads on the rigging screws, toggles, clevis pin sizes, etc. It also has current prices in US$ and they do ship overseas.

Agree with Don

If you can afford it go with staylocks or Hy -mod's . More outlay up front but cheaper down the road when you go to re-rig or need to repair a stay in the field.

Having mechanical terminals lets you carry one soare stay , for emergency use. You can also buy long rigging screw to carry if you need to cut a stay . Hyan make a emergency fitting.

I went with Dyform.

Ive had good luck with the people at Rigging Only. Tom was super helpful and they shipped stuff to me overseas.

HEre are two Sta lok sources in Oz.
You might have a look at SeaRig in NZ... they make similar fittings and have an Australian outlet. Just bought some T-ball terminals from them, and the quality is excellent.

dunno about the cost advantage of overseas sourcing... shipping can be pretty dear. Check it out, though, for the prices are better for sure.
