It shouldn't be too hard to do a proper job. Figure the loads on the boom and mainsheet, buy a traveler kit, proper
backing plates under
deck, appropriately sized
hardware fastening it to the deck. If the sail is loose-footed, make sure the boom can handle the loads being applied towards the center rather than the ends, like originally built.
Honestly, it's not a modification I would make. If my mainsheet controls were within reach from the
helm, I, personally, would not move them away from me.
