Bilge Crack Leaking Seawater

Has anyone seen this on their Leopard 40.

No cause; the boat was brand new. His house dock was shallower than his draft. His idea was to somehow remove or cut down the keels. Don’t know if he did either.

Surely that’s a d(r)aft thing to do....

Sorry, couldn’t resist.

But more seriously that sounds like a silly and potentially debilitating thing to do. The boat is designed with that amount of keel to allow a certain amount of upwind performance.

Without being a naval architect I’m guessing it would be easy to step off a cliff in the performance curve if you reduced the keel.

Intuition and gut feel could steer you way wrong here I would think. As badly as your boat might then steer....

Just my thoughts... I’m a newbie and know next to nothing.
