ID:	147715So this sailing/voyaging malarkey really has me by the short and proverbials.
I have found book learning most useful as well as info gleaned on here over the years.
But when it comes down to the actual doing.well she's a different story.
From the time of build/launch to now has been a rather steep learning curve.

The following cockups have been committed by myself, I am sure Odin must feeling tested by me.

The list so far...

Distmasting due to not rigging right.

moving in confined anchorages needs a little forethought, bull at a gate stuff is not a wise move.

Your mast does not fit under all brigde.

get more than a second opinion.

face the pointy bit into the wind when rolling a fag or hoisting the rags.

be quite and listen.

make sure all the unnecessary crap is out of the cockpit, so when yer jib lines start flapping about like cobras on a hot summer day in kolcutta you don't donate a vhf, winch handle.gaff, clothing to Poseidon.

sailing into the wind is for Englishmen .

when crossing bars make sure you avoid the Sandy bits even if your ship floats in a teaspoon of water.

know that you are not the first to experience the particular balls up.however vexing.Be gentle on yourself.

Undoubtedly i will add to this collection of foibles as time passes, I sure am more than qualified to do so.

written to you on the pick at Keppel island, our first landing off the mainland Australia.

Thanks for sharing your challenges; I think it's good for people to know that it's normal to mess up. Most people won't admit it when they do.

As for me, if I ever make a mistake, I'll let you know

Enjoy Keppel, it's great!

If the normal anchorages are rolly, check out Leakes creek.

pirate Re: Learning quick like.

Secret to avoiding toppling the mast on a Tiki.. re-tension the shrouds after launching..

Re: Learning quick like.

So my travails continue at a pace.I fell thru a temporary deck on the back of the cat.It was like in the movies when a joker falls down a trapdoor.when I got back to port I had myself checked out at the local A&E. Being Australia all the medicos where from other countries the patient too.Turns out I have strained/torn some straplike muscle and am likely to pull thru. With a crappy forecast I have bunkered down in Corio creek, they reckon this is the start of croc country ....oi vey.
