Fugawi Charts Plugin for OpenCPN

Hello all OpenCPN Navigators...

The OpenCPN and o-charts.org development team is proud to announce the availability of the Fugawi Charts Plugin for OpenCPN.

This Plugin enables support for the Fugawi licensed raster chart portfolio on OpenCPN. The Fugawi portfolio offers charts from well-known publishers such as NV, Delius-Klasing, Solteknik, BlueLatitude, and more. A wide range of regions worldwide are available, including some of our favorite cruising grounds.

Fugawi chartsets are licensed by the user at reasonable prices directly from the Fugawi on-line chart shop. The charts are then activated and installed directly using the Fugawi Charts Plugin for OpenCPN. Once installed, Fugawi charts are configured and displayed by OpenCPN as standard Raster Navigation Charts (RNCs).

The Fugawi Charts Plugin for OpenCPN is available now for unlimited download from the opencpn.org website.

Note that the plugin is not yet available for Android OpenCPN.

Reg the DK free chart set......I have exactly the same problem as BlackSea.

Hi Dave, great job, but while testing the new Fugawi plugin I faced two issues: one on Fugawi site, the second with the plugin.

1- Site: for my test I wanted to download the Brazil free charts, but when I tried to checkout with the purchase (Price 0,00 €), the system did not allow it, returning the following message: "Error. Invalid integer". (I suppose it has to do with the 0,00 € price, but I guess it should be corrected).

2. Plugin: I followed the steps outlined in the plugin instructions, and in the meanwhile I was logged with my Internet browser (username and password) to fugawi.com.
Nevertheless, when I tried to download the charts through Opencpn the plugin returned the message: "Invalid username or password". Username and password, though, were the same previously accepted by fugawi.com.
Solution?
PS: I am a longtime Fugawi customer (Inavx for iPad and iPhone).

The free DK chartset works for me, but i had another chart in the basket.
Now i have a raster chart from the Danisch region for this summer.
Plugin works fine here, charts downloaded perfect.
Hope the Danisch oeSENC charts will be available before juli.

You should forward this to support at Fugawi as they will be able to see at their log what happens. The plug-in just gets the "invalid" response.
No "strange" characters in the credentials I suppose..

Same btw. for the "free" products. I did already lodge a question at Fugawi about this issue.

I registered and logged into Fugawi.

On the Fugawi website I did a search on "free charts" because I wanted to try fugawi. I found Brazil Charts were "free" $0.00

I selected Opencpn at the dropdown and added Brazil to my Cart, then to order I had to enter a credit card even though it was free,

When I "Checkout" and execute the order, after entering credit card info, I get this message consistently "Invalid positive integer".

Unfortunately I cannot try this plugin out yet.


I have written Fugawi Support about this.

The issue at the Fugawi shop for free products is resolved now.

Just installed the DK set for the Baltic..

“I had one case of error 400 last week. The customer successfully fixed it by doing this:

1. In the OpenCPN plugin menu, click the Disable button in the Fugawi Charts plugin.
2. Close OpenCPN.
3. Login to your Fugawi account at https://fugawi.com/my_account/setting . Regardless of how good your current password seems to be, on this Settings page you need to change your password (at least for the next few minutes, the next download attempt) to a purely alphanumeric case-sensitive password with at least 8 characters, such as AaBbCc1234 or something of that form. On this page you enter your new password twice to confirm your input and supply your old password as validation or the ability to change your account in general.
4. Logout of the web site once done.
5. Run OpenCPN and re-enable the Fugawi Plugin.
6. Once again, go to Charts >> Fugawi Charts tab and try again to activate and download the chart. Make sure you type in your new fugawi.com email + password carefully.



Tell me what happens, positive or malfunction.

I had a browse through the Fugawi page and can't find anything that is not available for free through the existing chart down-loader built into OCPN. What is the advantage of using this plugin and paying for already free charts?

As a maintainer of the free charts catalogs for the chart downloader, I am not aware of having free charts for Baltic, Caribbean, Bahamas, Mexico, Canada and the Mediterranean. If you are aware of free charts for these areas, please point me to them so I can include them in the official OpenCPN distribution as so far the only charts where Fugawi's offer at https://fugawi.com/store?device_model_id=25 seems to overlap with the free chart catalogs I maintain are US, Brazil and New Zealand.

When I looked at it all of the charts that I recognised.. US, Brazil. New Zealand etc.. are free and included in the built in chart down-loader. Thanks for the enlightenment.. .. ..

just installed the plugin, signed up at Fugawi, purchased and installed charts for Mexico (both Sea of Cortez and Pacific coast) all without a hitch! Great addition to OpenCPN.
