Shear packing thickness for morgan OI 41

Hi all:

We just replaced a flywheel on our OI 41 and have tried varous sizes as we reconnect. Does anyone know the correct size for this packing? The engine is a Perkins 4108.

Thanks

Are you talking about the packing gland for the shaft ? Saying you replaced a flywheel, and then asking for the correct size packing does not provide any info !

Yeah, it is the stuffing box packing thickness as we reconnect the shaft to the engine.

Here is a pic of what we're trying to figure out. We have 3 thicknesses but as we try them, we take on water. Hoping to figure out sizing before another attempt.Click image for larger version

What is your shaft size? A one inch shaft usually takes 1/4 inch packing.
