VAT requirements for a South African boat, currently under Austrian flag

Hi All

I am currently looking at a boat for sale, built SA in 1989, currently in EU under Austrian flag, my question is whether VAT is required if I plan to purchase and keep in non EU marina. The VAT has not been paid in EU
I am UK resident. So the Brexit piece as a future non EU resident

Anyone got any experience on this?

If your keeping it in a non EU marina I'd not fret overmuch.. just remember to follow the 18mth rule if cruising EU waters.
