Re: 32 clipper marine aft ketch

It's a delicate balance between thrust, hull speed, and stern weight.
If it were me I would probably stay at about 10hp.
Others may know better, however.

Something between 8 and 10hp LS should be quite adequate.. those sizes have moved bigger and heavier boats.. a two stroke will be lighter and give more Ompfff.

Is a tow to a haul out available? Seatow?

Might be cheaper and you don't have to put holes in.

If you are looking just to relocate 10HP will serve the purpose. Why look at max. ? It is only going to go hull speed.

Re: 32 clipper marine aft ketch

I can understand the need for a new cutlass bearing but why does the strut need changing? that is a huge amount of work. Same for the prop, unless it really is a shambles, a trip to the local prop shop should enable it to be refurbished.

BTW there are two types of cutlass bearings. El cheapo from the likes of Vetus or local chandlers which are just molded rubber inside a brass cylinder or the more expensive molded and then ground out to the correct size. Pays your money and takes your choice. Two types of inner material too.
