Navionics keeps crashing on iPad

Hi there,

I bought a new Ipad Air 2 about a month ago. I have been doing route planning but the app keeps crashing and closing by itself.

This is particularly an issue when using the Auto Route function. I am only calculating routes of about 40 to 60 miles so nothing out of the ordinary.

I also make sure all other apps are closed. I also reboot the iPad so that nothing apart from Navionics is being used. I also updated my maps and the iPad software to the latest version.

It's pretty frustrating to say the least.

Anyone had a similar issue and/or know if it can be fixed?

PS - I have very few other apps installed and several gigs of free space.

I have it installed on my iPad Air 2 and my iPhone 5. Both work well and so far have not crashed as you describe no have calves routes many times without errors. Some small some long. My only question is have you updated to the latest iOS I'm on 9.2.1

I recently updated to 9.3 and still have the problem

Navionics is aware of the problem and should have an update on 6 April 2013.
I have the same problem and more on iPhone6 and 6s and on iPad.
Launch the App and press OK then nothing happens for about a minute
When It does launch it is agonizingly slow to populate the chart. as you move around or zoom in or out, it takes forever to re-populate or redraw the chart.
Hitting the route button crashes the HD version running on the iPad and freezes the iPhone 6s. The iPhone 6 doesn't crash but the other issues are there.
I also heard that the iPhone 6s 56GB model may have hardware issues.
Now running iOS 9.3.1 on all three devices and still no joy. The only thing that the iOS update did was to solve the freezing issues that many of us have had with Apple Mail and Safari but it did not solve the freeze or crash issues with Navionics.
Very fustrating! I did speak to Navionics on 30 March 2016 and am told the next update should resolve all these issues.

The Navionics update for iOS 9 I am told is in the hands of Apple and should be available as soon as they bug test it

We have a couple of options but have been using Isailor for the last 6500miles on Ipad. No problems at all and very easy to use.
Haven't tried Navionic's or Garmin yet
