Owner-Operator week charter business - Viable?

This is my first post on Cruisersforum.

Background:
I'm 35 and started sailing 2 years ago with a plan to get into the yachting industry. Being South African, visas are a huge issue when trying to even get to any of the yachting hubs to look for work. I have been to the Caribbean the last 2 years for a total of 4 months. I have applied for 100+ jobs online with a handful of responses. I have my Yachtmaster Offshore (commercially endorsed) and strong engineering skills.
Question:
Would I be insane to buy my own sailing catamaran and charter it myself (either as skipper only or find a chef/stew) in the Indian Ocean, probably Seychelles?
I've had advice that bigger is always better with charter catamarans so its a balance between size and affordability. I'd probably go for something like a Leopard 46 or the new Lagoon 42. I could put about $100k down and would need to finance the rest (these are +- $400k yachts).

Any advice, wisdom or experience on this matter welcome.
