Howdy from the Pacific Northwest

Howdy,
Recently passed a milestone at work and it got me thinking about retirement (in about 15 years or so). We often spend time in Baja and Mainland visiting friends and family during Winter months and the plan has been to follow in the in-laws steps and eventually spend our Winters south. However, I've had boats since I was 20 years old (the opposite of sailing vessels), and have always dreamed of living the boating life full time (and exploring as much as possible). With that, we'll probably end up with a 40'-ish cat when the time comes, but that's a good decade or more from now. Regardless, never too early to start learning and planning. I've been lurking on this site for some time, so decided I ought to register. I've found many a good and informative read on this forum. For now, I'll just have to make due with our land yacht and X-Star (the antithesis of the vessels found here), and some cat charters in the not so distant future. But someday, oh yes, someday she will be mine.

Thanks for the greets! Now, if only I could find a large cat that throws a good wake at 20mph, under sail, of course. Haha!

Thanks. JKPDX, we may have to meet up some day for some ice-cold Coca Colas. We're at the end end of The Gorge.

Trying to place the location in your pic... looks like above The Dalles or John Day River (?) I'm at Tomahawk Island Marina in Beervana.

Re: Howdy from the Pacific Northwest

Good guess, but it's actually from this Summer at Owyhee. Generally, the John Day is our hangout, however. Although Portland has it's merits, the best golden nectar of the gods can be found in Hood River, in my humble... I often attend a conf/training at Janzten in the Spring. Might have to meet up a JB's or a decent place.
