Help with paint for seats

Recently got a porta bote for dinghy use. My problem is that the seats are black. Does anyone know of a paint that I can get here in the U.S. with properties like this Emer Clad from AU? Here's the PDF so you can see what it is. https://www.totalwaterproofingsuppli...erproofing.pdf

Thanks in advance.

Re: Help with paint for seats

I'm not familiar with Erma clad but it sounds like Crommelins water based bitumen. I've painted the internal of my fiberglass water tanks as it is approved for potable water.

Water Based Bitumen Paint: Waterproofing: Crommelin

In Australia there are similar (?) products marketed under the name of Davco

https://www.parexdavco.com.au/ormonoid/home/

and Bondall

https://www.bondall.com/titerange-wa...umen-membrane/

and Sika

and others

Those seem like good products. I need something obtainable here in the U.S.A. Just not sure of what's available here that has the same type of properties.
Thanks,

They feel like plastic or composite of some sort. Who would have thought...good o'l Rust-Oleum! It doesn't say specifically that it is flexible, but I guess it must be since they are applying it to plastic patio furniture.

Re: Help with paint for seats

I've had good luck with a different Rustoleum product called Vinyl and Fabric paint. Nicely renewed vinyl seats on my boat that had sun damage. It is flexible after drying.

Re: Help with paint for seats

I would find out what plastic it is. Polyethylene vs. ABS vs. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) vs. polyester are very different in terms of what sticks to them. An item is not "plastic" any more than it is "some kind of metal."

I have used SEM Marine vinyl paint and was pleased with the results. See this video.

Re: Help with paint for seats

EmerClad is simply a acrylic waterproofing membrane. Used on roofs, walls and floors in wet areas and similar. It takes a few coats and dries easily, tough, UV resistant but remind slightly flexible so the membrane does not crack.
Admittedly EmerClad is extremely good and very tough, but similar products are available in most countries. We also have K10 here which some applicators seem to favour.
Trick to using these membranes is to remember you are trying to achieve an actual membrane - lay it on thick, do not roll out too hard and a normal roller nap leaves quite a good non-slip surface so your bum will stay put without being carved-up or sanded.

Re: Help with paint for seats

If the seats are plastic what about using some fender paint from an auto shop? It usually comes in spray cans and is fairly easy to apply.
Cheers

Re: Help with paint for seats

What about Elastomeric coating? It is applied to Hypalon roofing material to extend the life? Just trying to figure out the best route here. One way or another, those seats are changing to white.
