2004 Beneteau 473 (Tortola)

I am selling at a VERY attractive price of $80,000 a 2004 Beneteau 473 Oceanis currently moored in Tortola. You will not find a better deal in BVI! Co-owned by two family members, life changes have prompted us to sell our boat. The Calypso has undergone numerous repairs ranging from a new sail to new cutlass bearing, new bottom, new interior, etc. It is a sound boat and a pleasure to sail. This is a fantastic opportunity to own a boat in the sailing capital of the world and even to create a fractional share in a very popular boat. Contact me here or 925-202-5300 to learn more about this opportunity.

If it's in good shape that seems like a good deal.

Re: 2004 Beneteau 473 (Tortola)

Maybe the 'catch' is that the price is for a share in the boat.

The 'catch' is what you will have done once you purchase it at this great price.

Yes, something is fishy.
A quick search online shows that a boat like this should be around $200k.
And those look like stock photos.
Red flag on the play.

No 200 k is way to high, should be able to buy one for 125-150 k depending on condition. Asking prices may be higher. At 80K it's a good price but you'd have to know the history.

Also those aren't stock photos from beneteau, especially with two shots being of the same blue colored hull, which is somewhat uncommon for 473's. But yes I'd be weary of its history at that price.

Re: 2004 Beneteau 473 (Tortola)

There is in "catch" to this boat other than it is an incredible deal. Here is the history. The boat needs canvas (we have a $5000 estimate and she needs new electronics. The B and G equipment needs replaced/refurbished.

My cousin who is a shipwright and me purchased the boat about a year and half ago and planned to cruise the boat in the Carribbean for many years since we were planning on retiring soon. Unfortunately, our lives have changed dramatically since we purchased the Calypso. My cousin owns a historic building and is now building out a nightclub and I’m moving to a new state and a renewed career. We just don’t have the time to cruise the Calypso as originally planned.

The boat was somewhat neglected and needed several repairs when we bought her. Since then we have made many repairs and I’ll list them here. We have severely reduced the price because we have some more repairs to make as mentioned. With that said the value is significant for a 47 foot Beneteau. The photos are not "stock" and are a true representation of the boat except the new interior is in white faux leather.

Repairs recently made:

1. New salon interior cushions and window coverings.
2. New cutlass bearing (May 2016)
3. New rudder bearing (May 2016).
4. New bottom paint (May 2016).
5. New Doyle main sail with stack pack and lazy jack (May 2016) ($8000 value)
6. Newly refurbished windlass.
7. New kitchen sink faucet.
8. New engine mounts (rear).
9. New engine fluids and filters (approximately 25 engine hours ago).
10. New l.e.d. deck and steaming lights.
11. New interior cabin LED lights.
12. New AGM batteries and new starter battery.
13. New throttle shifter.
14. Rebuilt front winches with new collars. .
15. Removed and reinstalled and sealed all lifeline stanchion footings.
16. New/used 4 stroke Mercury dinghy motor.
17. Replaced diesel engine pump impeller (May 2016)
Manufactured and installed new auto pilot ram mount.
New bilge pump.
New in-hull fittings.
New fridge thermostat.

Doohhh!!

That boat is perfect for me. I wish I was ready. I like a good canvas to start with and finish up myself without starting at the beginning. I have done, cara, boats and planes and you learn a little something with every one. This is a buy!
