Clearing out of US to Bahamas

Just curious if anyone clears out of the US when going to the Bahamas. We did last time we sailed there but Bahamian customs didn't ask for the letter. Don't think we want to bother this time. Thoughts?

For the Bahamas I wouldn't bother. But for Mexico or beyond, I'd clear out, no question.
