CQR 45 lb

I am looking for a "genuine" 45 lb C.Q.R. anchor. I see that Nor Star CQR anchors are considerably cheaper than say Lewmar. Does anyone have experience with a Nor Star CQR anchor?

Re: CQR 45 lb

You should be able to easily find a used CQR of that size, as so many people have dumped their CQRs for superior new generation anchors like a Spade, Rocna, Mantus.

Re: CQR 45 lb

I used CQRs with very good results for 8 years and then bought a boat with a Danforth plow. It didnt work worth a darn. I could hardly get it to set. It looked like a CQR, but there must have been some small difference to make it perform poorly. I would be very cautious of anything other than a genuine CQR. They are available on the used market for a reasonable price now that everyone seems to be going over to the next gen anchors. Just get a size up from the recommended size and you will do fine. Of course, here on the anchor thread this will start arguments, but after spending close to 3000 nights at anchor with various CQRs without trouble, I dont pay too much attention to the arguments. Just my opinion. ____Grant.

I have a "Made In Scotland" genuine 45 lb CQR in very good condition. Are you still looking for one? I'm in the Vancouver area.
