Lord Nelson 41

Can anyone give me insights as to a Lord Nelson 41? My wife and I are looking at one to live aboard on but information seems scarce on these boats. They do have teak decks but unlike other boats, I have been told, the deck under the teak is solid, not cored. They don't appear to be a very fast boat but a sea kindly motion, quality build, tankage, haul a load and livability are more important to us then the ability to go to weather.

I have looked at a couple in the PNW. Very heavy boats. Not very fast. Bullet-proof. Roomy inside. Most problems I saw were teak decks needing replacement. Many came with BMW diesels that may present spares issues depending on their condition.

The teak decks are in sorry shape and will have to be removed and/or replaced. The motor was replaced 3 years ago with a 75hp Yanmar along with the entire drivetrain, exhaust system, fuel lines, etc. The owner also had the bottom peeled in 2000 and relaminated with receipts for all the work. Still a lot of work to do though to get her back to "Bristol". Was hoping to get opinions on the hull before I make an offer taking all the work that still needs to be done into account.

Sounds like most of the hard work has already been done! Even with blisters, those boats are very solid. IIRC Lord Nelsons were made by the same company that made Victory Tugs, and those are very stout and well built.

I had an LN35 and loved it while we did Mexico cruising.
It's very strong, well thought out, easy to work on any system on the boat.
The boatyard did indeed build Victory Tugs.

Now I've gone to the "dark side" for local cruising.
