Oh nice, I haven't seen that type yet, I'll check them out and get back to ya. Does it have a certain bracket system that it came with already?

Re: windvane steering

tdalka,
sorry,i didn't answer your bracket system. the main body has two supports that swivels
to conform to transom curve and two brackets at the top of the body. no control lines are needed. it is best mounted at the centerline but it can be mounted off the centerline.

Re: windvane steering

Thanks for your reply.

1. Have you sold it already?

2. If not, what boat was the windvane designed for. They are custom fit. What are the measurements of your boat?

Re: windvane steering

Hello,
I have a couple of lookers, but i still have it.
It was supposed to go on a Gulfstar 50. The transom was about six feet wide by 3 feet with a 5-6 degree inward angle. If you at some of the pics, you can
see on main body, 2 mounting pads that articulate to conform to the transom.
the top mounting struts are not shown but i can take some more pics. tje top
struts extend from the main body to the transom at a 45 degree angle for about
1 foot. They also have articulated mounting pads up or down.
If believe it will fit a lot transoms without modifications. It all depends on your transom. Let me know if you need additional pics (details, complete
assembled, etc)
thanks,
frank

Re: windvane steering

Thanks.

I have a Tad Brewer Blue Jeans 47'.
Her stern is about 60" above the water. That is my main concern.

BTW, how difficult is to remove the auxiliary rudder and put it back? Do you happened to know?

Re: windvane steering

Hello Galla Terra,
The rudder shaft is fastened with 3/8 S.S. bolt. There is handhole on the top of rudder. Im assuming to make it easier to handle.
I looked at Blue Jeans in your attachment. love the lines. I have a Gulfstar 47, with a cutter sail. Sure help with balancing the boat.
I have some more information for mounting the windvane.
I would like to PM you. I also took additional pics.
Thanks,
Southern Style

I assembled the windvane today to see it works. also took some measurements and 3 pics. I placed a 36" ruler for reference. I believe you to be correct that most of the s-600 series have some custom parts. I don't
believe the struts and the lower pads are going to work. I an willing to reduce the price by $500. so you can have the mounting hardware that works for your yacht.
The system went without a hitch. All the parts, except mounts.
Info: overall length 12'
Hand tiller to top of rudder 5'
rudder 3'
thanks again,
frank
