Re: Paint recommendations

Plan on adding an anti-mildew compound to the paint.

Re: Paint recommendations

Welcome aboard CF, Megster.

What kind of fabric are you talking about?

If the fabric has mold spores in it, forget it. It is generally best to remove the fabric, and then consider how you want to deal with the mystery under it when you have cleaned that and can see what you really have to deal with.

One time we had a boat that had the underneath of the deck painted with some paint that had dark grey blobs in it. We cleaned it and overpainted with plain white latex paint of a good quality, but not top of the line. The plain white semigloss worked fine, and lightened the interior.

I've painted over glass cloth with flat white paint, and it came out okay, in a house. Heat and humidity will be the paint's worst enemies, and most fabrics absorb moisture, hence overpainting them may be a real problem, and I really don't know if adding the tributyltin flouride mold killer will help.

Re: Paint recommendations

Water-based paints are always best for painting fabric; preferably one without latex. Latex gives paint its flexible one-piece quality but also helps prevent it from soaking into the material. I've also used it with great results on Sunbrella.
