I shipped my yacht from
Turkey to Newcastle using Sevenstar and was happy with the
service. The local representative (in Aus) was helpful both here and in
Turkey and they made
customs clearance a breeze.
The good thing with
shipping is that after you have paid for it, the
customs and GST seems a bargain
You could pay a
delivery skipper which will be cheaper, but you have to factor in wear and tear.
One thing I did learn from my shipping experience is that the quoted prices can and do change up until the day you commit. I booked my shipping a couple of months before the original departure date, whilst an Aussie couple who was living on their yacht played a waiting
game and paid a lot less. It all depends on if the ship is full and whether you are willing to risk missing the
boat.
and also if you speak to small shipping brokers, they might be just getting their prices from the same shipping companies.
