Hello From Ukraine

Hello everyone.
I did registration on this site about one year before. I'm just reading on this site.
I have got decision to write about myself.
So, I'm sailing captain from Ukraine. Until this year I 'm just working on sailing yachts and I think I will work on yacht in next year too.
But few months ago I bought one small yacht 6.5 m (21f) and I'm looking for new horizon in my life.
Usually, I'm sailing on Black Sea.
If you will have some questions about Ukrainian coasts that don't hesitate to ask me.
Cheers
George

Welcome

Hi George
Welcome to CF!
Any information on cruising the Northen coast of the Black Sea would be very welcome. Little is known about this cruising ground. Where are you based?

I can help with the Russian part - two words, "don't bother". I bet the Ukrainian part is better -- I bet they have reformed their customs and border procedures, which the Russians have not. And when the Soviet Union broke up, the Ukrainians got one of the most beautiful places on earth -- the Crimea. I hope George will tell us all about it!

Now, I'm in Kherson Ukraine. The last port on river Dnieper. My lovely city.
I met not too much foreign yacht in passed years on Ukrainian water but I hope that situation will change. How I wrote above "if you have some questions that let me know". I will try to give answer.

Yes, you are right. Crimea is the most beautiful place. I like to sail around it. I'm doing it every year.

Hello George:

How long can you anchor there before they tell you to move on? Much paperwork? What's the most interesting thing about sailing Black Sea?

Welcome to CF..

You are close to Western border but I'm living in South part of Ukraine. In Carpathians, you can find a lot of snow

If i want to sail in Ukrainian water that I need: registration of yacht, crew list, my license and passports of crew.
I can move very quickly if I'm going in cabotage. If I go to close or open border that is going to be hard paperwork. I remember, I came from Turkey. It was night time. Coast guard ordered me to stay on anchor behind port until morning. what do you think about it? I came to my country but I must stay out of port because they are thinking something.

Usually, roads are not so good but if you have jeep it would be okay. What is special do you find in Hungary?

as international sailors we are used to minor beauracratic issues when visiting seldom visited countries.
in my experiance once you have complied with customs and immigration and they have identified that you are on an innocent passage you can expect many people to approach you with offers of help and invitations from interested parties associated with the sea, shipping and yachting.

here is a link to a good friend of mine who was a general in the polish/russian army, and went sailing!
