Where to find Kubota alternator in Spain?

So I am in Spain at the moment and have a broken DC alternator on my Fisher Panda generator...

The local repairman says it is hard to get proper FP parts - indeed there is no stock in the country, and replacements need shipping from Germany. This takes time and comes at a premium price.

However, the generator is based on a 13hp Kubota diesel engine, specifically the Z482. I am fairly certain the alternator is not only generic to Kubota, but common to several of their small engines, used with lots of different garden equipment, small tractors and the like.

So parts should be widely available.

But where would I be likely to find Kubota parts in Spain?
I have spent hours searching the 'net with little success.
Probably it is just a matter of knowing exactly what business to call.
I suppose many of you have Kubota gear and would know what to do?

By the way, the little thingie goes by part numbers like 15531-64013, 15531-64017, and others. There are some on eBay, but mainly in the US. It looks like this:

Any tips would be welcome.

P.S. I know I can also replace the whole alternator with a pulley, and charge the battery in other ways... That has been discussed in recent threads.

Regards,
Sven

Have you looked into repairing yours? Or having it repaired? Alternator shops are common everywhere cars roll

Agree with Eric, see if you can get the old one repaired. Alternators generally aren't too complicated and 99% of the time new dioides or bearings (which are usually common, generic parts) will make it like new.

Failing that, Kubotas engines are used in Kubota tractors so try an area that has a lot of agriculture and look for a dealer of farm tractors.

Re: Where to find Kubota alternator in Spain?

I know this won't help your immediate problem, but years ago when the boat I was in Marbella, Spain on the boat I was running I needed to find an American-thread bolt for the Northern Lights generator we had.

No one knew where to find anything like that in a metric country and suggested I'd find what I needed over in Gibraltar about 35 miles away. They didn't have what I needed, either.

On the way home I saw a sign for an "Industrial Zone" so I swung off the carretera. As I wound my way through the area I spotted a small, green sign out of the corner of my eye for John Deere. Voila. Sure enough a shop dealing with an American icon like John Deere would have what I needed and they did. My engineer, my girlfriend and I became friends with the owner of the company and he and his family treated us royally while we were there.

Not sure if it's any help but my local Nanni dealer (marinised Kubota) in the UK is ;
Peachment | Total Marine Solutions

I've dealt with them for years and they have always been exceptionally helpful.
Give them a go, you never know.....

Re: Where to find Kubota alternator in Spain?

You need to remember Kubota is essentially a tractor engine. The trick is to know what tractor engines match yours. Sombody published a guide matching kubota engine with tractor models but I cannot seem to locate it, may have been lost when I had malware issue. Please advise if you locate it, it may have been in CF. Once you know what tractors are compatible it should be easy for any tractor repair shop to order the part if not in stock. You will also save money by not using a marine supplier.

I have a Kubota model-engine crossreference pdf. I'm not sure how to send it here. Suggestions?

I would go to the agriculture/tractor dealer. I have had good crossover of parts/numbers between John Deere and my boat's Yanmar diesel. Kubota is likely the same.

This pic looks like the 15amp 12 V permanent magnet alternator supplied on a Shibaura 103-10 industrial diesel.

I can't be certain, but this ebay posting looks similar.

New 12V 20 Amp Permanent Magnet Alternator Generator Dynamo 124190 77201 | eBay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-alternat...-/151144375402

Kokusan Denki is mfgr

Google Kokusan Denki 12 V permanent magnet alternator 15531

Hope this helps you find one. Or you could possibly upgrade to a 50-60 amp-even an automotive rebuilt-to get you buy.
