South Pacific Pilot Charts on OpenCpn

Hello all,

I tried to fidle around with downloading Pilot charts.. I got the first part downloaded but of course my computer (let alone me) would not know how to open the .kap extension.. anybody any ideas...(i am using windows 10).

Keep in mind many programs that worked in Windows 7 don't work or don't work correctly in Windows 10.
I went back to 7.

My nav programs MaxSeaTZ and Open CPN both open .kap files after unzipped.

If the chart is a correct BSBv2 raster chart (.kap) you will have to install it as described in the manual - directing OCPN to it or the directory where it lives - and it will show up.
In case of a problem with this chart, the log file should give a hint.

Opencpn reads kap files. Add the directory to charts and rescan db. Make a pilot chart group. Read thr user manual too.

Alternatively, install Climatology_pi its much more useful and provides more infotmation.

Get VPP (Visual Passage Planner) - it gives you basically similar data in the digital form and lets you plan your routes according to this data.
