One good thing about the Oceanis 38 is that it's highly configurable. You can order a new one with the layout you want. Handholds are not a problem from what I've seen, since everything is in arm's reach, and the two cabin version has a lot of storage.
If you want to consider a similar boat for comparison, the
Dufour Grand Large 382 is the same size and has about the same number of configurable options as the Oceanis 38. Overall I think it's a little nicer, but I really like the arch on the
Beneteau.
