Boat: 2010 FP Salina 48 ft, owner version & well-equipped (solar / gene / watermaker etc). Currently in Dubai (which would probably be your arrival airport).
Timing: Feb 2015.
Need skipper + mate to deliver from Oman to south Egypt (where I will take over the boat).
Please contact me with your credentials and proposals.

Closer to the topic, please. There is substantially less piracy in Aden Gulf (check 2014 piracy map), 2015 will be the same.

I guess we must be reading different piracy reports!
mine says that the area is still very active with many attempted boardings, just not many successful hijacks, due to armed teams on vessels passing the area and other anti piracy methods onboard.

Thank you for letting me know. I am much closer to the area than you and have the latest info - local boat going via Aden Gulf quite frequently.
If you do not plan to skipper the boat - pls do not post, there is another dedicated post for Aden Gulf.
Thank you for understanding.

well actually I am not so far from the area at the moment, being currently in Thailand!
also having done 7 transits of the gulf of aden and the red sea by yacht I am probably fairly qualified to comment!
you do know that all of southern yemen is al quaida
territory closely affiliated to isis with the added risk of hostage taking.

Many experienced skippers (and I am sure you would only want an experienced crew for a 48' cat) would wonder why you would not take the cat there yourself.
After all, you ARE in Dubai, and you did say you would take over at the destination.
I'm not sure why you are surprised at the observations made in this thread so far. You are well aware that part of the ocean has security challenges most others places don't.

Very simple - I have a limited vacation. Office slave (how can you otherwise afford a Salina?).
Therefore, I am employing smb to do it.

Re: Muscat, Oman -> Marsa Olam, Egypt delivery: skipper + mate wanted
Marsa Alam is not a port of entry- it is also shallow, fringed with reefs and I would not like to risk entry. Port Ghalib, just to the north, is a recognised port and the harbourmaster and team are keen to welcome visitors and take trade from long established rival, Hurghada, to the north. I have delivered up through the Red Sea (and out thru the canal to Cyprus and Turkey) and entered Egypt at Port Ghalib. Are you seeking a two handed delivery? Or will there be others on board? When do you want the boat in Egypt?

Finally professional - welcome.
Yes, i meant Port Ghalib, just next to Marsa Alam.
2 handed delivery - Salina is set up for single-hand use. Nobody else aboard.
Departure scheduled on Feb 15.
PM me with your quote - I will be contracting the skipper next week.
Thank ypu.

If you wonder why an owner would hire a delivery crew you don't have a very firm grasp of that business....
