Key West water taxi ?

anyone know if there is some type of water taxi service in Key West ? either to anchorage outside City Marina downtown or to the mooring field at Garrison.

i am thinking of putting my boat there but only have a small row dinghy thinking about what happens if i need to get to shore or to boat in a bigger wind / wave combo than i feel good about.

thanks

Re: Key West water taxi ?

There is no water taxi. I have at times managed on the mooring field with only a rowing dinghy, but a big dinghy with a big motor is way easier. People sometimes look at me like I'm nuts when I row. As the saying goes, the Key West mooring field is protected to the north by the Florida Panhandle.

Key West water taxi ?

When I was there this Summer I saw the same little Boston Whaler shuttling people back and forth from the anchorage and that island.
I am sure it was not an official water taxi just someone trying to make a buck to get by. May or may not still be there.
Just me, but Garrison Bight mooring field failed to impress me at all, I won't be back there.
I think anchoring out and buying a dinghy and shower pass is better.

What the Rotor Head said^^^^
I lived at Garrison Bight for 14 years.

IF (notice the BIG IF) you can get a ball to the extreme east side, Flemming Key offers good protection

We call it a $4.00 bus ride from Marathon

If you claim senior citizen status, the trip from Marathon gets cheaper

Re: Key West water taxi ?

I just got an envelope in my dinghy today in Key West Bight. Someone's opening up a water taxi business serving Garriso Bight moorings, Key West anchorage, and hotel shuttles.

Address on the paper:

kwsail2cuba.com / kwisland.com

Also, contact Capt. Sherwood 305-240-7569.

I'm not affiliated with any of this. Just a guy in the anchorage.
