Seattle Boat Show

Anybody ever visit the boat show by boat ?
I wonder if anchoring or docking is feasible for Lake Union for the 'afloat' portion of the show ? Is it easily done or is it too much of a hassle and easier to just go the hotel route ?

Re: Seattle Boat Show

Don't know a out lake union I would anchor in eagle harbor across the sound and take the ferry across to Seattle. Or try for a guest slip in one of the many marinas in the area.

Re: Seattle Boat Show

You cannot anchor on Lake Union without a permit from Seattle Marine Patrol and they don't hand them out. There are many marinas on Lake Union and it might be possible to find one for temp moorage. An easier solution would be to moor at Bell Harbor Marina located on the Seattle waterfront in Elliot Bay. The Boat Show is at the football stadium exhibition center a couple of miles south of the marina. With the purchase of a boat show ticket you can take the free shuttle to and from the boat show to the boats afloat show on Lk Union.

You could, as suggested previously, anchor in Eagle Harbor and deal with the ferry crossings, (half an hour trip) which will leave you a little closer to the venue. It all depends on how much your wallet lends itself to convienience.

Re: Seattle Boat Show

Thanks for the replies. I thought that anchoring might be an issue - glad I asked! If I am paying for a marina then I might as well add a bit and pay for a hotel.
I will explore doing the trip with the Victoria Clipper instead, they have packages just for the show.
