Return to sailing our own boat on Lake Erie

After owning 3 different sailboats over a span of 22 years on Lake Erie and the Chesapeake, including bringing the third one up north by water to return to the Great Lakes, and after racing on another's dime on the Great Lakes for another 16 years, we finally bought our retirement "second home".

It's a 45 year old project that hasn't been afloat in a few years but has beautiful lines and a lot of amenities that if even half of them work, we'll have a great start on a semi-liveaboard lifestyle. She is a solid Morgan 35 with a lot to offer.

I'm currently prioritizing the projects so I can launch this year and work on the second list after she's in the water. We're planning a shakedown cruise this summer to at least circumnavigate Lake Erie. Next year we are thinking about Georgian Bay or the Thousand Islands. After that who knows.

Hi I have sailed out of port Erie in PA. I hope you enjoy the lake and have fun. If things work out I will be on the lake this summer. I wish I could sail half of what you have planed. kind regards, Lou

MG, it's a joy to have a first post that doesn't start with something like "we're new to sailing but just bought a boat in Newport and are going to learn while cruising to the Bahamas......." Welcome, do contribute where you see a topic that resonates with you, and do post progress as well as "This one's got me stumped..."
