OpenCPN for MAC OS X 12.11.6 functional?

Hello-
As a new OpenCPN user, I am experiencing difficulty getting charts to download onto my MAC Powerbook Pro running OS X 12.11.6. Is there an incompatibility issue with this operating system, or am I, more likely, doing the download procedure wrong? I have tried to download charts via the Chart Downloader function several times without success. I have also searched the forum for assistance without avail. Please offer any guidance you may feel comfortable supplying. Thanks in advance!

Which charts? What does happen exactly?
In case it might be helpful to see the opencpn.log file

There is no Mac OSX version 12.11.6 available.
The latest known Mac version is 10.13.2 (High Sierra).
Do you mean 10.11.6 (El Capitan) ?
