Man Tried to Steal Sailboat, Called Owner in Process

You can't make this stuff up!

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-sta...ner-in-process

"The suspect is accused of using emergency contact information on the boat to call its owner, who said the suspect told him his boat was 'too complicated' to sail."

I really don't understand what makes strangers think they'll just take your boat to do *whatever*, and that that is somehow okay. Dang!

Our town of Whoville, Massachusetts is filled with idiots. Going to the supermarket is like taking in a freakshow.

Re: Man Tried to Steal Sailboat, Called Owner in Process

If someone is going to steal my boat, I hope they do it before the refit rather than after.

I really don't get stealing boats of any size unless it is being used for a single drug run. Then it might make some sense.

It doesn't seem like a long term proposition unless you are going extremely remote and never coming back to civilization.

Must be some kind of an IQ test that most thieves fail.

This guy must've been quite high on something. He told the cops he wanted to "sail like a pirate."

So . . . yup. Did that, or at least boarded like a pirate, for a few minutes.

And now he can face the justice system like a pirate. I'm sure he's glad he won't hang in chains, though.

Sure you can, it just takes a small incision. Ask a vet.

( despite some wishing to make humour on ) That was really quite a tragic and sad event . The boat was eventually found damaged ( jamed rudder , shredded sails etc ) an estimated minimum of 2 months after her final diary entry , detailing fatigue and desperation .although few of us would condone stealing another persons boat I guess the attraction of life on a boat was irresistible to this not so young couple ( who wre actually on the run after a previous boat theft !! ) , sad
